Pick of the bunch

Carol Grant is a director. Carol is a former Director of Communications at Shelter and the Local Government Association. She has written and edited books and a good practice website on council communications and is a regular columnist for Local Government Chronicle. Carol is also a qualified executive coach.

Karen Riches is a director. Prior to setting up Grant Riches, Karen had 10 years’ senior management experience in local government and was Business Development Director in the e-government team of Epic Group plc – the UK’s leading developer of online learning.

Dee Sullivan is assistant director. Dee has 21 years’ experience in government and the voluntary sector including two stints as media officer on Tony Blair’s election campaign team, special adviser to Secretary of State for International Development Clare Short and head of media at the TUC and Christian Aid.

Nicola Carroll. Nicola is a former features editor at The Municipal Journal (The MJ), has an MA in Urban Regeneration and Development and now works as a freelance journalist and communications consultant.

Alan Pickstock. Alan is a former head of communications at the Local Government Information Unit and has over 25 years’ experience as a journalist and communications professional.

Marina Pirotta. Marina is a former head of communications in London boroughs and was director of her own successful communications consultancy (now part of the Tribal Group). She and now works with us as an associate.

Tim Smith. Tim has led the communications teams in two unitary authorities, has extensive experience in the management and development of internal communications and is an experienced interim manager.
